Information we collect

Account and profile information

We collect a username, a protected password representation, account role, account and sign-in timestamps, and account status. If you choose to add them, we may also store an email address, phone number, and profile information. Registration is limited to adults age 18 or older; we use an age attestation and do not ask for a birthdate.

Learning, progress, and practice information

We store curriculum progress, completed activities, quiz results, notes you enter, and synchronization records needed to keep progress associated with the correct account. If you use Focus Mode, we also store the lesson or task selected, practice cue, start and finish times, elapsed time, balls hit, and any optional closing note.

Microphone-assisted ball counting

If you tap Start listening during a Focus session, the app asks for microphone access and analyzes brief sound levels on your device to detect possible golf-ball impacts. The app does not record, create, retain, or upload microphone audio. Listening stops when the live Focus screen is no longer visible. Only the resulting balls-hit number is stored with your practice session, and you can use the manual correction buttons instead.

Current wind in Focus Mode

When you enter a live Focus session, the app may ask for approximate location so it can show current wind speed and direction. The app rounds the coordinates before sending them to Open-Meteo, refreshes only while the live Focus screen is visible, and does not save your location or weather conditions to your device, practice history, or account.

Optional music controls

On iPhone, you may choose Spotify or Apple Music for Focus Mode. Spotify asks you to authorize playback control. Apple asks for media-library access so Focus can read and control the song already playing in the Music app. Focus may display the current track, artist, and playback time and send previous, play, pause, and next commands. Authorization and now-playing details stay in the running app only: Dirck Golf School does not store them or send them to its servers. The app remembers only which provider you selected. Spotify's and Apple's own terms and privacy policies apply.

Swing-review information

If you use swing review, we collect the video you choose to upload, its filename and technical details, your notes, review status, and any coach analysis associated with the submission. Videos are private and are not intended for public posting.

Support and security information

If you contact us, we receive the information in your message and the email address you use. We also process limited request, session, rate-limit, security-event, and technical-diagnostic information to operate the service, prevent abuse, investigate problems, and protect accounts. Diagnostics are limited to coarse failure type, app area, platform, release, response-status and timing ranges, and a random request identifier. They do not include error messages, stack traces, full URLs, usernames, passwords, message bodies, or video content.

Information kept on your device

The website or app may keep your theme, locally selected profile image, sign-in state, progress synchronization data, and temporary upload state on your device. Clearing site/app storage or uninstalling the app removes device-only information but does not itself delete your server account.

How we use information

• create and secure your account, authenticate sign-ins, and enforce account roles;
• save and synchronize your curriculum progress;
• provide private swing upload and review features you choose to use;
• answer support, privacy, and deletion requests;
• prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and technical failures; and
• meet legal obligations and enforce the Terms of Use.

When information is shared

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose information only as needed to operate the service, when you direct us to, to protect users and the service, or when legally required.

• Cloudflare provides application hosting, network protection, serverless processing, database storage, and private object storage.
• Apple and Google may process app-download, device, purchase-account, diagnostics, and store information under their own policies when you use their platforms. The initial app does not sell digital access.
• Open-Meteo receives rounded approximate coordinates after you grant location permission so it can return current wind speed and direction for Focus Mode. The app does not send your account identifier or save the location.
• External destinations such as YouTube and Amazon receive ordinary browser or app information only after their pages or externally hosted images are requested. Spotify receives an App Remote authorization and playback-control connection only after you choose Spotify in Focus. Apple Music receives a permission-gated system-player request only after you choose Apple Music. Their own terms and privacy policies apply. Dirck Golf School does not download or rehost YouTube videos, Apple Music, or Spotify playback.
• Authorities or safety recipients may receive limited information if disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, or investigate misuse.

Retention and deletion

After a verified account-deletion request, access is revoked and associated active-system account, profile, progress, session, upload, and coaching data is deleted within 30 calendar days. A narrow legal or security exception may apply; if it does, we will retain only what is necessary for only as long as required. See Delete your account.

Security

We use HTTPS, access controls, revocable sessions, server-side authorization, private media storage, restricted caching, input limits, and tested deployment procedures. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Please use a unique password and contact us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

Your choices

You may decline microphone access and count balls manually, and you may decline location access and use Focus without wind conditions. You can change either permission later in your device settings. You may update available profile details, download a copy of your account data, request support, ask privacy questions, or permanently delete your account from the Account tab. The same verified deletion flow is available through the web app. If you cannot sign in, use the contact below. Support may need to verify that you control the account, but will never ask you to send your password.

Adults only

The service is intended for adults age 18 or older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly allow a person under 18 to register. If you believe a minor has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it as appropriate.

Changes to this policy

We will update the date at the top and provide an appropriate notice before a material change takes effect. A later release that adds coaching messages, payments, advertising, tracking, or support for minors will require an updated review and policy before that feature is enabled.
